Appearance: Rich Ruby red intensity with crimson accents. Aroma: Intense rich dark plum, black cherry, spice, toasty oak, dark chocolate, caramel and ripe blackberry. Flavor: Elegant and velvety. Rich concentration, black cherry and dark chocolate flavors, soft spice and a rich, long, supple finish.
Wine Advocate 87 points - The 2012 Merlot aged 18 months in oak barrels from an estate with almost unlimited potential to make world-class wines, should they desire. This is an attractive, easygoing wine with lots of black cherries, spice box, a hint of forest floor and underbrush. It is medium-bodied, delicious and best drunk over the next 6-8 years. (Oct 2014)

Wine maker notes
Appearance: Rich garnet Aromas: A richly expressive, yet vibrant mélange of bright fruit—juicy framboise, warm black plum, cassis, and ripe black cherry—draws you in, layered with sweet anise, vanilla, and subtle notes of cardamom and cola.. Flavors: Full and lush on the palate, the supple, fleshy mouthfeel will bring you back. A plush core of ripe Santa Rosa plum, black cherry, and blackberry is framed by rich mocha, vanilla, and anise with traces of tobacco and sweet sage. Elegant and impeccably balanced with a dark cherry and vanillainfused finish.

We harvest Napa Valley Merlot at its peak, judging ripeness by taste, not by measurements and numbers. When ripeness in sugar content, tannin maturity and flavor development all come together, the grapes are harvested.
